Not Just a Project.
A Movement.

We are ShakTide — a social startup born in the classrooms of VidyaGyan, grown on the streets of Patna, and now reaching every corner of India where silence around menstruation still costs girls their futures.

Our Origin

The Wave that Started it All

"Bleed Green wasn't just a project. It was a promise we made to every girl who ever sat out of class."

We are ShakTide — a bold social startup that began inside the classrooms of VidyaGyan School, Lucknow, where a group of students refused to accept that menstruation should be shameful, secret, or a barrier to education.

Our founders noticed that while urban cities were moving forward, the silence around menstruation in rural areas remained deafening. Girls were missing exams. Women were suffering in silence. Healthcare providers were dismissing symptoms. We decided that wasn't good enough.

Today, ShakTide is a registered social startup led by the very people who needed it the most — young women and men committed to turning period taboos into table talks, and replacing misinformation with medical clarity.

What We Stand For

Our Three Pillars

Every decision we make — every campaign, kit, and conversation — traces back to these three commitments.

Health

Rashes? Infections? PCOS? Endometriosis? We are done settling. We talk UTIs, PCODs, and period-friendly lifestyles — backed by science, told with clarity and without shame. Your period should never feel like punishment.

Inclusivity

Menstruation ≠ Womanhood. Not all women menstruate, and not all menstruators are women. We ensure no gender identity is excluded from the conversation, the data, or the healthcare access it deserves.

Sustainability

Disposable pads take 800 years to decompose. We champion choices that are healthy for your body and safe for the planet — from menstrual cups to organic cotton pads — because sustainable periods are possible for everyone.

Why We Exist

Mission. Vision. Values.

The beliefs that guide every campaign we run, every kit we distribute, and every conversation we start.

Mission

To democratise menstrual health education across India — providing scientifically accurate, stigma-free information to every person who menstruates, regardless of geography, gender, or income.

Vision

A world where no girl misses school, no woman suffers in silence, and no menstruator is denied access to the healthcare and knowledge they deserve. A world where periods are just biology.

Promise

We promise to always lead with science, speak with empathy, act with urgency, and never — ever — tell someone their pain is "just normal." Your body is not dramatic. It's communicating.

Our Journey

From Classroom to Country

Every big wave starts with a small ripple. Here's ours.

What We Believe In

The non-negotiables that shape every decision we make.

🔬 Science First, Always

Every piece of content we publish is reviewed against current medical research. We do not guess. We do not gossip. We do not generalise.

💜 Radical Empathy

We listen before we speak. We understand that behind every symptom is a person who has probably already been dismissed once too many times.

🌍 Access for Everyone

Menstrual health information should not be locked behind expensive consultations or urban privilege. We make it free, clear, and reachable.

🤝 Community Over Competition

We collaborate with NGOs, doctors, educators, and grassroots organisations because the problem is too big for anyone to solve alone.

🌱 Sustainable by Design

From the products we recommend to the materials we use in workshops — sustainability is woven into every layer of what we do.

🚀 Impact Over Optics

We measure success in lives changed, not likes gained. Every campaign, kit, and conversation is designed to produce real, measurable change on the ground.
